KEAR provided aviation fuel construction services for the modification of the Fuel Facility at Nashville International Airport. The facility modifications included the phased construction on 6 existing API 650 aboveground Jet-A fuel storage tanks as well as the hydrant pit drainage system. The AST modifications included internal and external coating of the tanks, raising the existing center support columns to bridge the tank sumps, replacing the existing floating suction arm indicators and performing maintenance on the tank pressure vacuum vents and internal tank safety valves. The hydrant pit modifications involved the abandonment of the sump drain pits and of the corresponding drain(s) within each pit along with grouting of the 3” pit drain piping. Complete tank modifications included the installation of reinforcing pads (repads), patch plates on the tank floors, modification of the tank stairs and installation of 1” nozzles on each tank for thermal relief systems.
