The Mulberry and Island WWTP upgrade project involved the expansion of the existing Mulberry WWTP from 1.1 mgd to 2.2 mgd, and aeration upgrades to the existing Island WWTP. To achieve the Mulberry expansion a new clarifier, aeration basin, filtration system, UV disinfection system, blowers, odor control system and plant electrical systems were constructed. As the general contractor, KEAR self performed all structural concrete, process piping, equipment installation and startup activities while coordinating the subcontracted electrical, masonry and I & C. The end result was a safe and complete plant expansion within the owner’s construction schedule requirements.
