KEAR was contracted to construct the new improvements to the jet fuel delivery system at the San Diego International Airport. A previous study identified the need for two additional refueler loading islands. The project involved various upgrades to the existing fuel load islands including a new remote loading position, new pump, fuel offload control system, and piping modifications. In addition, new inventory management software was installed and the existing human-machine interface (HMI) system was replaced along with various electrical upgrades.
