As the prime contractor, KEAR constructed a new aviation fuel farm and demolished 2 existing fuel farms at Topeka Regional Airport for the Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority.  The new aviation fuel farm included the installation of 3 new 40,000 gallon Jet-A fuel tanks, one 12,000 gallon AVGAS Tank, 2 Jet-A loading/unloading skids, 1 Jet-A unload skid and 1 AVFAS loading/unloading skid. A new concrete entrance roadway, containment area, loading/offload containment drive and equipment pads were installed along with site landscaping and fencing.  KEAR also demolished 2 existing airside fuel facilities including the removal of 15 underground storage tanks (USTs), demolition of 2 pump-house buildings and all interconnecting piping. Environmental abatement measures included the removal of existing asbestos containing materials and restoring the site with clean-fill. The project was completed on schedule allowing MTAA to meet their federal funding deadline.
