Delivery Method Construction Manager at Risk

KEAR Civil Corporation was selected by the City of Wichita to provide Construction Management at Risk (CMAR) services for renovations and improvements to the Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport fuel farm located at 2090 Airport Road in Wichita, Kansas. The project was executed over two major phases which allowed the fuel farm facility to continue serving the airport while the construction was completed. The initial phase (Phase 2A) was initiated in May 2021 and consisted of upgrades and modifications to two underground storage tanks and the replacement of the 6-inch issue manifold with a new stainless-steel pipe and associated valves. The underground storage tanks were upgraded with new tank linings, wet wells, floating suction arms and high-level shut-off control valves. Phase 2A was completed in October 2021. The second phase (Phase 2B) proceeded immediately after Phase 2A was completed. Phase 2B will include similar upgrades to the other 4 underground storage tanks, as well as the construction of a new control building and re-fueler loading racks. Additional facility improvements include the replacement of the PLC system which controls the flow of jet fuel into and out of the fuel farm’s 6 active underground storage tanks. The project was completed in July 2022.
